Just a bit of info. There really is no plural for "stuff". It's like how "homework" and "equipment" don't have the regular s-plural forms. The letter "s" isn't 'just' a waste. It really shouldn't be there in the first place. Just thought everyone should know that it really is grammatically incorrect. It really really annoys the heck out of me whenever I read someone using "stuffs". It's redundant, really. As for "crisp" and "crispy", I never really thought about that. Just realized you've got a point.
"I’ve read the Hunger Games, like, five times already,"
A lot of things annoy me for a variety of reasons: For instance, I hate the word “stuffs” because it’s a waste of the letter s when “stuff” will do just as well. I also dislike the word “crispy” because “crisp” means the same thing minus one letter. Happy Kevin and his legion of followers annoy me because I find their general existence insulting to my intelligence.
"Me also" annoys the living daylights out of me because it’s a unique conyo expression. It still pulls off being conyo despite it being completely English. It’s a very literal translation of the Filipino expression “Ako rin!” which is also used to signify agreement.
Fine, I understand we need to embrace Filipino-isms in order to achieve hybridity and escape from the colonial mechanisms in our society by transforming their culture (language included) into something of our own. But unlike the changed Filipino English definitions of “salvage” (to kill) or “traffic” (the presence of a blockage in a flow), “me also” isn’t widely used. I only ever heard it in Ateneo. It’s a conyo thing as opposed to an everyone thing.
"Well… ‘me too’ is grammatically incorrect, to start off. ‘Too’ should only be used to express an excessive amount, like “She’s too stupid to insult”. But ‘me also’ IS hideous. ‘Me as well’ is slightly less hideous, but still cringe-worthy."
An example of the leagues of difference between Filipino English and English English English. I’m sorry I wasn’t clear enough. While “me too” is also a literal translation of the Filipino expression “ako rin,” it’s more widely accepted in Filipino English than “me also”. Just like “take a bath” is wrong in English English English despite it being accepted in Filipino English. In English English English, “have a bath” is the correct term. Can I plead Bhabha and call it a day? :))
lolol gurl nag-aaway yung boyfraaands mo. (this is probs a joke but still!)
Cristiano Ronaldo said once in a TV interview "the god of football has sent me to earth, in order to show people how to play football the right way!" When Messi heard about what Ronaldo said, he looked at the ground thinking for a while, then said: "I don't remember sending anyone."
Hahahaha! Messi wins. Perfection, god, messiah, etc etc etc.
how uncomfortable my new Hunger Games-crazed username must make people whenever I like their entries.
"galelover93 liked your entry"
If that happened to me, I’d so judge that shit to high heaven.
The good news is I’m due to change it back on Monday. The worst case scenario here is if someone took “larispan” while I was out salivating over a fictional character, but I’m never really one to dwell on worse case scenarios.
has resulted in this strange, out-of-body existence I’ve been living since the weekend started. I have literally no concentration left for my studies. Stupid, I know, because it’s kind of finals week.
Case in point:
What I did on Saturday: Thought about finishing all my papers but drowned myself in our WiFi.
What I did on Sunday: I discovered a new book series and proceeded to read the fourth book all day; sort of thought about finishing all my papers.
What I did on Monday: I read the third book of said book series; actually made documents and dabbled with possible titles and thesis statements for my paper. I only really started studying for my Math finals at 11pm.
What I did today: Crammed Math-related knowledge from 6:15 - 7:25 am, right before my exam started at 7:30; finished the exam at 9:19 am. I went home right after the exam despite the pouring rain intent on getting an early start on my papers. Instead, I slept, had a late lunch, visited all my usual sites, watched the latest episode of House, and now here I am typing this entry.
In conclusion, I am utterly useless.
PS: My brilliant plan to write my evaluative essay for En11 on Hunger Games thinking I would go into writing it with enthusiasm is blown up in my face. En11 has, unfortunately, made even Hunger Games boring as fuck.
Last Friday, I cut my only class (English—it was at 7:30 am, okay, can you really blame me?) so I could visit my high school with some friends and take credit for giving my former homeroom adviser a birthday cake I didn’t pay for.
FACT: This is a long post. Seriously, it would be bothersome to have this thing looking absolutely boring in your dashboards. But I talk of my high school with a teaspoon-full of longing only a college freshman could pull off, plus a traumatizing childhood event that I can’t forgive because apparently, I have rage issues. So if you’re interested, read on. Also, I’m only just stretching my writing muscle from weeks of disuse, so forgive the crappy writing. This is me trying to overcome my ~writer’s block.
I don’t claim to having an excellent taste in music. But this is one band in my iPod that I can flaunt with no shame. I love this band! Even if I don’t have other people to fangirl to since most people only know “Mr. Brightside”. If you’re one of them, it’s high time you expand your Killers song collection. They have other wonderful songs. Like this one, for example.
(Can I just take this time to say that I find “Skyway Avenue” annoying and too literal? Well, all We the Kings songs in general? /hater)
So I’m going to make one right now to test its effectiveness.
Things I need to submit and when I need to submit them:
PS2 Lab Report #10 — Tuesday, October 5
Lit13 Smaller and Smaller Circles/Disturbing Occurrences 2-page paper — Wednesday, October 6
En11 Ateneo-themed magazine — Wednesday, October 6
Fil11 Bonus paper(s) — Thursday, October 7
En11 Evaluative essay on…wait for it…THE HUNGER GAMES — Friday, October 8
Fil11 5-page Marxist analysis of Si Pilandok at ang Bayan ng Buluwan — Friday, October 15
Da Truth: I always agonize over my cramming but I never actually get around to trying to prevent it (i.e.: actually doing my shit—le gasp—earlier than the night before). Oh foine. I’ll start on my lab report right now.
…I’ll just completely change my Tumblr theme first. And then ~customize~ it and stuff.
